It shares its borders with North Las Vegas, which is to the north and east, Spring Valley, which is to the south and west, and Laughlin to the southeast. The community was developed around 1950 by J.C. Jones, an entrepreneur from Texas who bought 5 square miles of land just outside Las Vegas City Limits that he thought would be perfect for building homes on when they were needed most– during World War II when many military families came into town with their soldiers stationed at Nellis Air Force Base.
